Competition Levels

When deciding what level to place your dancers,  please keep in mind that it should be determined by the dancers overall abilities, as well as the amount of technical classes taken at your studio per week. This should be determined at the discretion of your studio director. At MyVibe Dance competition, we offer these suggestions:

It is important to note that dancers will be competing at the level their studio signed up with – Level placements CANNOT be changed the day of the competition.

Categories

MyVibe Dance Competition welcomes all styles of dance. Listed are the styles of dance which you can register under:
*The open category is perfect for creative style routines that are not pertaining to the above categories. Styles may include (and are not limited to): pointe, ethnic or cultural routines, cheer/poms, character, and/or modern style pieces.

Prop Usage

Dancers may use props that are appropriate for family viewing, and do not pose a danger to the dancers or judges. Props must be moved on and off stage in a timely manner, and must be battery operated (if applicable). Any routine that uses dangerous or inappropriate props (knives, swords, faux guns, etc.) may be disqualified.

**Lines of 20+ dancers will not be allowed at this time to maintain the health & safety of our dancers and staff.**

We understand that this is a difficult time for everyone, and our goal is to maintain the health and safety of our dancers. If a dancer is feeling ill, we highly recommend pulling that dancer(s) out of the competition. All entry fees that need to be pulled from the competition due to an unforeseen circumstance (world emergency, sickness, natural disaster, etc.) will be refunded. We are also offering the option of using your payment as a credit towards competing in the next MyVibe Dance Competition.

Scoring

Each of the 3 judges will award up to 100 points based on the following criteria:

The total number of points to be scored per routine is 300 points.

There are 4 main adjudicated awards for MyVibe Dance Competition:

Judges will note the level placement of each routine, and score accordingly.
All dancers that participate in the competition will also receive a pin for each of their routines.
Studio awards & plaques will be given at the end of each studio’s competition time slot. Overall competition awards will be announced via live-stream and will be delivered directly to your studio after the competition weekend.

All studios will receive their digital scoring sheets along with an audio of the judges critiques for each entry after the competition.

Music Time Limits

Solos, Duet & Trios: 3:00 min max

Small & Large Group Dances: 4:00 min max

Production: 10:00 min-max (Time limit includes prop set-up and entrance/exit time)

*.5 points will be deducted from the routines overall score for every second that goes past the allotted time limit*
*If extended time is needed for any group entries, please contact us for further review.*

The number of entries will be on a first-come, first-serve basis and will be limited to the amount of performance time available.
